Welcome to Fall, Weatherhead!

The following blog post is brought to you by Alexis Hayman, director of Weatherhead's Office of Student Experience (STEX). STEX is here to assist students with finding opportunities for experiences outside of the classroom that will complement the holistic learning environment of Weatherhead. Learn more.

Northeast Ohio has so much to offer every season, and fall is no exception. First, did you know that our area has made many national lists for the most beautiful autumn leaves? Here is but one article listing Cleveland Metroparks and Cuyahoga National Park as a top ten fall foliage destination. While the rest of the country are packing their bags and gassing their cars for a day trip to take in the brilliant colors and natural wonder of the season, all you need to do is walk outside.

Of course, there is plenty more to do in the coming months. New to Cleveland? New to American Halloween? Want to experience a Weatherhead tradition unlike anything else this year? Buy your ticket to the Weatherheadless Ball! On October 29, Weatherhead's Graduate Student Business Association will be hosting the Weatherheadless Ball on the ground level of the Peter B. Lewis building. Tickets are on sale and are an amazing $15 dollars for the first 150 students. The admission price gets you four drinks (beer or wine), fantastically catered array of delicious food and live entertainment from 8 p.m. to midnight. Worried about a costume? We will have costume making material ready for you! Just come ready to create, party and live out the most fun Weatherhead has to offer.

Another local tradition can be found at Patterson’s Fruit Farm. A local favorite, Patterson’s Fruit Farm (8765 Mulberry Road Chesterland, OH 44026) features an apple picking orchard, fresh pumpkins, hayrides and a farm shop full of delicious, locally grown and made apple sauces, apple ciders, pies, baked goods, apple chips and other fall treats. Get your friends, throw on your favorite sweater, and make an afternoon of it!

If you have some extra time, and are ready for a day trip, try Nickajack Farms. With pony rides, a corn cannon, pedal carts, and a fantastic Fall Festival, this is a destination for sure.

And what fall post would be complete without a haunted house listing. Ohio is a state full of farmland and many large, open spaces for fear enthusiasts to create epic haunted houses. A complete list and description would be far beyond what this blog post could cover. Suffice it to say, whatever your pleasure, Cleveland and its surrounding areas have plenty of options to meet your blood curdling desires. Check out the Cleveland.com top choices for 2016!
