Fourth of July celebrations in Cleveland: Beyond the fireworks

The following blog post is brought to you by Weatherhead's Office of Student Experience, which is here to assist students with finding opportunities for experiences outside of the classroom that will complement the holistic learning environment of Weatherhead. Learn more.

Although summer starts on the solstice, June 21, Cleveland enjoys warm weather long before that date—with the occasional snowstorm, of course. By July 4, we often feel like we are in the height of summer and it’s a great time to celebrate!

The most traditional celebrations always include fireworks. Luckily, July 4 falls on a Monday this year, giving us a nice long holiday weekend. No matter where you live around Cleveland, there are firework shows going off almost every day. Check out this comprehensive list of fireworks displays around you!

Want something a little more special than a show of fireworks at a local community center? Try Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls. The Cleveland Orchestra will be playing classics such as the 1812 Overture in a medley of Russian romantic music on July 2, 3 and on the 4th will perform a salute to America. All shows will be concluded with a fireworks display!

Missing out on the excitement of the Cavs? Now is your chance to get a little of that back. As of this writing, the Cleveland Indians are on a 10-game winning streak. They are set to play the Detroit Tigers July 4 - 6. Ticket prices start at just $18!

What about checking out the Over the Rainbow Kite Festival? From Destination Cleveland, “Bring the whole family out for a soaring good time at Victory Park Ohio's inaugural Over the Rainbow Kite Festival, benefiting Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital. Bring your own kite or purchase one to color in the Kite Coloring Workshops ($5 each or three for $10).”

Check out all of the July 4th happenings around the city of Cleveland!
